The Book Nook is Australia's oldest and largest performing arts specialist bookshop.

Welcome Guest! Would you like to log yourself in?

PLEASE NOTE:  We have been experiencing some computer difficulties since we moved.  Despite our best efforts (or perhaps because of them)  the stock levels on our website do not always tally with our shop levels. We are working hard to rectify this problem.  If you place an order and we cannot fill it we will immediately contact you with an alternative.  We apologise for this and hope to find a solution soon.

We have moved!!!

Dear Book Nook supporter,

The Book Nook has sold and relocated to Toowoomba after 25 years in Brisbane. Geoff Andrews who has been its creator and custodian, just turned 70 this month. Happy birthday, Geoff! We raise a toast to you, and thank you for sharing your valuable insights and for the personalised assistance you have provided over the years.

The shop was bought by his daughter, Christine and her friend, Karen, a Drama teacher and long-time customer of the Book Nook. Both live in Toowoomba, thus the change of location, which has been understandably disappointing for the Brisbane browsers (a few howls of protest), but we have been warmly welcomed by the Toowoomba booklovers, theatre companies, teachers, actors and students.

The good news is that, despite the change of location to Toowoomba, we continue to be a national, virtual shop through the same website, www.booknook.com.au where we will continue to provide a 24 hr ordering online facility. The Book Nook will be, in many ways, a convenient virtual bookshop. You can order online or email, phone or fax your request. Additionally, through a communication provider, no matter what time of day or night you feel inspired to ring, your phone call will be answered and your enquiry forwarded for our immediate attention.  We would be interested to hear of your opinion of this answering service.

The Book Nook stocks Australia’s largest collection of play scripts, drama theory and teachers’ resources, poetry, speech, dance, media and arts texts / biographies. If we don’t have it in, we’ll order it for you. Standard postage and handling within Australia is now free.

Our aim is to continue to provide quality attention to customer’s individual needs, and to work towards improving efficiency through the introduction of available technologies.  There have been some hiccups in the move and we apologise for these.  There have been times where technology has conspired against us or our inexperience has meant we have not provided the service we want and we are working towards improving our systems to provide better customer service.

The shop at 158 Margaret Street will be open most mornings for browsing customers, and by appointment, even outside of hours, (which will particularly suit those in the Darling Downs region!) We’re not letting Geoff Andrews get away too fast; he will be available for school visits, for friendly and informed advice, and you’ll continue to see his familiar face at conferences. If you can, please visit us in the arcade in Toowoomba, directly opposite Jilly’s Café, just around the corner from Toowoomba’s Empire Theatre.

We very much look forward to your continued support and patronage, and to meeting you at some stage. In the meantime, please spread the word, save our new details to your address book, add us to your favourites, and we’ll keep you informed of new products of interest. If you’re not already on our email list, please contact us to be added.

 Kind regards,

Karen and Christine
