PRODUCTION HISTORY Premiered at the Pact Theatre, Erskinville in February, 1998.

PLAYWRIGHT
Binh Duy Ta is a Vietnamese born playwright and performer, who now lives in Australia. Binh has performed in and written the critically acclaimed The Return for the Sydney Asian Theatre Festival at Belvoir St Theatre, and has performed for Jigsaw Theatre, Griffin Theatre and Entracte Theatre.

SYNOPSIS
Three generations of women; Grandmother, Mother and Anna, make a figurative journey from the mores of Old China to those of contemporary Australia. A tragi-comic, one-woman show richly realised through voice and circus.

PRODUCTION HISTORY
Premiered Cremorne Theatre, Queensland Performing Arts Centre, August 1997 as a co-production between Gum Yi Productions and the Queensland Performing Arts Trust.

PLAYWRIGHT
Anna is a performer, movement and circus teacher, Feldenkrais Practitioner and director. Shes the co-founder of the Tasmanian Womens Circus and performed, co-created, wrote and produced Chinese Takeaway for which she received a Matilda Award Special Commendation.

PRODUCTION HISTORY
The Butterfly Seer was developed under the Playlab Script Development Program in 1998-9, and was the featured reading at their Writers Weekend in June 1999.

PLAYWRIGHT
Indija N. Mahjoeddin is a theatre maker, writer/director of Randian Folk Theatre. She established the Brisbane based ensemble MusiK KabaU and has toured her work extensively on the theatre festival circuit.
