Everyone involved in this production has stuck their neck out, so I'll do it too: Head Full of Love is wonderful. With a story that could at any moment have tipped into schmaltz, writer Alana Valentine has kept her nerve, delivering a script both predictable and powerful, fable-like and totally real. It is a story that tells us so much about where we are and what we need to do about it. Rosemary Sorensen, The Australian
The Annual Alice Springs Beanie Festival is fast approaching and Tilly Napuljari is out of time to finish her new creation to enter it for judging. Nessa Tavistock, a Sydneysider, has run away to the red centre to escape her own problems back in the big smoke. Head Full of Love is the story of the unlikely but inspiring friendship which forms between them. Based on extensive Central Desert mob consultation and support, this is an unsentimental, humorous and deeply moving portrait of the complexity of cross-cultural relationships rewoven, like a beanie, into a simple and humble beauty.
